Facts & Figures

Since its establishment in1993, NSJ has held an average of 15 two-weeks-courses a year, having trained more than 2500 media practitioners and 150 media trainers in the southern-african region.

NSJ’s impact study shows that 87% of all former participants from public and private media (and 100% of the private media) maintained they could produce better journalism after the course, improving work speed, accuracy, interviewing skills and critical analysis. 90% felt more confidence and motivation and more than 30% were promoted because of the training received.

As a further step towards versatility, we have recently started the Exchange Programme and set up an extra service offering In-house training to media institutions (see Our Programme).

IIn 2004 a collaborative initiative was concluded between NSJ and Rhodes University in Grahamstown South Africa. The agreement will accredit participants of NSJ’s media management courses half of the University's Post Graduate Diploma in Media Management.

Plans are in place to establish similar cooperation with other universities in 2006/2007.
