Selection procedure
We choose the candidates by taking into consideration the following:
Professionalism:
Applicants should demonstrate a willingness to promote freedom, independence, pluralism and professionalism in the media. Candidates who can show that they could be catalysts in the outlined areas above, are prioritised.
Homogeneity:
As much as possible, each course is built around participants with comparable levels of education or experience.
Gender Balance:
Because woman are traditionally under-represented in the media, and especially in senior media management positions, female applicants are particularly invited to apply. We strive to achieve a 50:50 ratio between men and women for all NSJ courses.
Proportional Representation:
NSJ seeks to reflect a fair representation of all citizens of the SADC countries.
